Welcome to our operating theatre.

Will the Hernia operation hurt?

There will be minimal post-operative pain and discomfort. However the incision will be infiltrated with local anaesthetic at the end of the procedure.

The Anaesthetic.

The anaesthetic may be general, local or an epidural anaesthetic. The epidural anaesthetic will numb your body from mid-section to your toes. You will have a choice of being either awake or asleep throughout the procedure. These various anaesthetic techniques and be discussed with the Consultant Anaesthetist who will be responsible for the anaesthetic and will be in attendance at all times.
