There will be minimal post-operative pain and discomfort. However the
incision will be infiltrated with local anaesthetic at the end of the
procedure.
The Anaesthetic.
The anaesthetic may be general, local or an epidural anaesthetic. The
epidural anaesthetic will numb your body from mid-section to your toes. You
will have a choice of being either awake or asleep throughout the procedure.
These various anaesthetic techniques and be discussed with the Consultant
Anaesthetist who will be responsible for the anaesthetic and will be in
attendance at all times.

A small 2cm semi circular incision is made around the belly button.
The hernia is reduced
The Ventraex patch is shown before insertion.
The patch is prepared for insertion into the hernia.
The patch has been inserted through the defect to close it.
